Frederiksdorp is a former 18th century coffee and cocoa plantation located on the right bank of the Commewijne River, not far from the city of Paramaribo. The history of Frederiksdorp recalls both European and African traditions. It has its own character with surrounding plantations, shing villages, sea beaches, mangrove forests, swamp, dolphins and long cycling and hiking trails. This former plantation with original plantation homes and a police station, has been declared a world heritage site and transformed into an attractive resort.
The comfortably furnished apartments are all equipped with air conditioning, wi and hot water. There is a pool with a beautiful pool d eck and a large river terrace. On the estate there are several fruit trees : oranges, mangoes, papayas and coconut trees: you can pluck your own breakfast! Good food is a memorable part of your holiday . The plantation has a good restaurant and well-stocked bar where you can enjoy our carefully prepared meals. In the vicinity there are many fun ways to explore the beautiful surrounding s. When you don’t have much time and you want to get a taste of what Plantation Resort Frederiksdorp has to offer this tour is perfect for you! It includes transportation from Paramaribo to Frederiksdorp (taxi or bus and boat) from Marienburg v .v., a historical tour of the estate, a swamp tour, lunch at the estate restaurant or at the neighbouring plantation John and Margaret. After lunch we take a boat to go dolphin spottin g on the river. We are sure you ’d like to stay longer, but you can always come back for more. Daily departure: at 08:00 am from Hotel Torarica.
